Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

I get asked a lot about the things I use to build software, stay productive, or buy to fool myself into thinking I’m being productive when I’m really just procrastinating. Here’s a big list of all of my favorite stuff.

Workstation

  • Custom Windows Workstation (Ryzen 9 7950X, RTX 4090, 128GB RAM)

Built for 6K timelines and heavy render queues. The combination of a Ryzen 9 CPU and RTX 4090 lets me scrub multi-cam footage without proxies and export client projects quickly.

  • LG UltraFine 32" 4K Monitor

Hardware-calibrated so I can trust my colors. The extra screen real estate leaves room for scopes, timelines, and reference windows.

  • Keychron Q3 Pro Mechanical Keyboard

Hot-swappable switches and a compact layout make it easy to bounce between editing shortcuts and day-to-day writing without fatigue.

  • Logitech MX Master 3S

The dual scroll wheels and custom profiles are made for Premiere and Resolve. My thumb buttons jump the playhead while the wheel handles timeline zooming.

  • Secretlab Titan Evo Chair

Keeps my posture in check during long edit sessions with adjustable lumbar support and a wide seat that actually stays comfortable.

Video editing & motion graphics

  • Adobe Premiere Pro

My main NLE for client work. Dynamic Link keeps projects flexible when I need to bounce over to After Effects for motion passes.

  • DaVinci Resolve Studio

When color matters, Resolve is where I live. I grade in the Color page, use the Cut page for quick assembly, and hand off final renders through the Delivery page.

  • Adobe After Effects

Title animations, lower thirds, and clean motion graphics happen here. I keep reusable templates ready so I can drop them straight into Premiere.

  • Adobe Media Encoder

Handles all of my delivery presets—ProRes masters for archiving, H.265 for client previews, and optimized socials for quick uploads.

Audio & capture

  • Shure SM7B + Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

Broadcast-quality vocals with a clean preamp. Works for voiceovers, livestreams, and remote meetings without adding noise.

  • Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones

Closed-back monitoring with excellent noise cancelling so I can dial in audio mixes even when I’m editing on the road.

  • Elgato Cam Link 4K

Connects my Sony mirrorless camera as a clean HDMI source for live sessions, tutorials, and quick talking-head segments.

  • Blackmagic Speed Editor

Dedicated controls for Resolve’s Cut page—jog wheel, trims, and quick source toggles mean faster rough cuts with both hands engaged.

Utilities & productivity

  • Notion

Project briefs, edit checklists, and content calendars all live here. Linked databases keep client revisions and assets organized.

  • Microsoft PowerToys

FancyZones, PowerRename, and the system-wide Color Picker make Windows feel tailored for creative work instead of generic office tasks.

  • OBS Studio

My go-to for screen captures, live reviews, and creating video tutorials. Profiles keep settings ready for each platform I stream to.

  • 1Password

Securely stores client logins, license keys, and NDAs. Shared vaults make collaboration with contractors painless and safe.
